Singleton via Putty Rd 16th, 17th Feb
Planning on going to Singleton this weekend.
Meet at Somersby School 9:00am. Through Mangrove Mountain down to Wiseman’s Ferry up to Maroota then down over Sackville Ferry and up Putty Rd to Singleton.
With numerous stops – I believe there is a Half Way House.
Going clockwise as I would rather do the unknown Putty Road on Saturday when “fresh”. Day trippers could leave Putty Rd to go to Broke and home at Milbrodale (on Milbrodale Rd).
Overnight at a pub in Singleton and home via Broke and Wollombi and Sandy Creek Rd.
It happened – Double D, Scrounger. Nige and Brizzer – Day one.
Nige, Brizzer, Scrounger and Chris – Day two.
Distance: 470kms (sad really)
The meet at Somersby School.
Preparing for the launch. BMW’s do take a LOT of preparation.
Ready to mount up.
If YOU had to pick a ride?
A quiet day on Wiseman’s Ferry.
The Brizzer and his faithful steed, back in the days when BMW’s came with 2 mirrors 😉
DoubleD approaches his steed from the rear so as not to startle the performance enhanced BMW (because it is red)
How could you not like these pipes, seriously?
A plethora of BMWs at Wiseman’s. The things you see when you don’t have a steam roller.
Sackville Ferry. Another place where the Briz was able to do a ‘Do Drop In’ moment.
Held up for new tar early on the Putty. It got quite cold in here and some wardrobe adjustments were required.
Nige waiting patiently.
DoubleD doing what he does best.
DoubleD on his K1100RS. Looks good eh?
The Scrounger heading off, it doesn’t blow any smoke.
Scrounger on his new/old R650. Looking good.
Nige on CBR1100XX Blackbird. That luggage really does look ordinary.
Impressive gate on Putty Rd. It certainly fits into the ‘Why Bother’ category.
The usual suspects at the Half-Way Roadhouse.
Scrounger laughing at Brizzer because we all ordered lunch and he didn’t.
Everywhere we go there are bikes, where do they hide through the week?
Double D striking what has been described as ‘You always take a good photo’ pose.
A great photo of the Brizzer looking decidedly red.
The Scrounger’s pride and joy.
The preliminary signage described this as ‘Famous’. Not quite sure what it is/was famous for.
Update: Quote from owner
“We call it the famous Cockfighter Creek Tavern and we are hoping one day it will be,” said Brad.
Can you guess who took this photo? Scrounger really has to diversify 😉
DoubleD playing Hide and Seek.
The “famous” Cockfighter Tavern, Bulga.
Briz was pointing at the sign with the name of the pub on it but you can’t see it and I can’t remember it.
Brizzer won the darts but LOST the drinking/singing/dancing and morning.
The Briz explaining the theory of relativity to our new best friend.
Loud/tuneless and wrong words were sung to every song, but hey 🙂
Brizzer looking very slim.
The bikes were looking MUCH better than their owners the next morning.
Another wardrobe malfunction for Brizzer’s mirror. This time the whole thing fell off on a bumpy section of road. (Nige did wait an appropriate amount of time before telling me he had the hide to laugh at the sight of the mirror tumbling down the gravel!!!!)
Damp and deserted at Wollombi Pub on Sunday waiting for Chris to arrive.
A few more bikes have trickled in.
Chris’s Trumpy looking very mean with the tinted screen and headlight protector.
Chris and Nige (not sure exactly what he was doing).
Brizzer’s battered Beemer.
The Briz about to tackle the last of the chips before heading home.
I am in for the day trip. The bikes back on the road so I’ll come for the day (can’t get a weekend pass ).
see you at Somersby.
